About CCME

What is CPE?

Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is a method for students to learn and strengthen pastoral competence while serving as a chaplain to persons in crisis in a variety of settings.

CPE is the hands-on practice of ministry in the context of modern diversity.

Through the engagement with persons in crisis, peers and supervisors, as well as through reflection, writing, and discussion, students learn to articulate their pastoral identities and hone their pastoral skills.

CPE invites the minister into deeper self-awareness, broader parameters for his/her assumptions and a wider understanding of the Divine at work in the world.

CPE education is designed to assist an individual to work in the health field as one skilled in dealing with the whole person in the context of life’s crises and in a cooperative inter-professional team approach.

Our programs are particularly directed toward persons seeking professional certification as health care chaplains as well as clinical pastoral education supervisors.

Mission Statement

The mission of Caring Community Ministry Education, LLC (CCME) is dedicated to caring for persons in spirit, mind, and body by providing compassionate, sensitive and competent ministry and care to the patients, residents, staff, and families of community service organizations. Further, our mission is to advance experience-based theological education for seminarians, clergy and lay persons of diverse cultures, ethnic groups and faith traditions by building innovative community partnerships in order to pursue a vision of greater service.

Partnerships will be developed through contracts with community service organizations such as but not limited to: hospitals, hospices, retirement centers, nursing homes, prisons, corporations, businesses and parishes.

This program offers CPE Levels I and II (summer, full-time or extended, half units) as well as supervisory training.

Accreditation

CCME is accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc., 1549 Clairmont Road, Suite 103, Decatur, GA 30033-4611(http://www.acpe.edu) to offer Level I, Level II and Supervisory CPE.
