CPE Supervisors
Rev. Jan Humphreys, D. Min. is the Director and Founder of Caring Community Ministry Education, LLC which had its inception in August of 2007. Jan is a certified supervisor with the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc (ACPE) with over 25 years of experience supervising students and a Fellow with The American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC).
She is an ordained Minister of the Word and Sacraments, Presbyterian Church (USA). She holds a Doctor of Ministry from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY in Marriage and Family Studies, and a Masters of Divinity and Masters of Religious Education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY.
Former positions include Assistant Professor and Education Coordinator at Virginia Commonwealth University in the Program of Patient Counseling, School of Allied Health and Director of the UCLA Medical Center Pastoral Care Department. She has held other
positions both full- and part-time as a CPE supervisor, Chaplain and Pastoral Counselor.
Dr. Humphreys has held national and regional appointments with the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education which includes a tenure on the National Certification Commission and the Board of Representatives, the governing body of ACPE. She is the incoming National Certification Chair for ACPE for 2009-11. She has also held membership in the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT).
She currently serves on the Committee on Preparation for Ministry for the Presbytery of the James, Richmond, VA and is a member in good standing of the POJ. She is married to Mark Sprowl, a Presbyterian minister, has two teenage children and enjoys quilting, genealogy, scrapbooking and traveling.
Rev. Janice Broadie, MDiv., MS, is a Supervisory Candidate at Caring Community Ministry Education, LLC where she has completed two units of Supervisory Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). Janice is a Clinical Member of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. (ACPE). She is an ordained Baptist minister of Cedar Street Baptist Church of God, PNBC, Inc. She holds a Masters of Science in Patient Counseling from the School of Allied Health Professions, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia (2007) where she completed four units of CPE, one as Chaplain Intern and three as Chaplain Resident. She also holds a Masters of Divinity from Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University, Richmond, Virginia (2006); and a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from the Richmond Virginia Seminary, Richmond, Virginia (2003).
She retired from the Telephone Company after 30 years of service. She held various administrative positions for Bell Atlantic, C&P Telephone Company, and Bell Laboratories, consecutively. She retired as a Business Sales Consultant in 2005. She was licensed to preach (1998) and ordained (2004) at Cedar Street Baptist Church of God. She served as Assistant Pastor at Friendship Baptist Church of God (2000-2003). She facilitated Bible Study at a Richmond area adult home (2002-2003) and served as volunteer Chaplain at the Richmond International Airport (2000-2004).
She currently serves as PRN Chaplain at Johnston Willis Hospital and Virginia Commonwealth University Hospital System, Associate Minister at Cedar Street Baptist Church of God, and Assistant to the Pastors at Plentiful Harvest Ministries. Janice is married to Mr. Benjamin Broadie, her husband of twenty-five years. They have three daughters, three sons-in-law, 11 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. They enjoy family gatherings and watching movies. Janice enjoys reading and writing in her spare time.
